Guess the NYC neighborhood
from what it complains about.
A daily puzzle built from real NYC 311 requests. Six guesses.
How to play
Each day we pick one of New York City's 59 community districts. You start with its three most distinctive 311 requests — what it reports far more often than the rest of the city. Each wrong guess shows the distance and direction to the answer (from the average location of each district's requests) and unlocks a new clue. Six guesses. Your streak is saved in your browser.
Why 311?
311 is the city's non-emergency line: New Yorkers filed 337,217 requests from Sep 29, 2026 to Oct 28, 2026 (up 5% on the previous 30 days). Clues use a rolling 30-day window, refreshed regularly, so the same district reads differently each time it comes around; each day's clues are fixed once that day's puzzle is published. 311 measures who reports, not just what happens — treat it as a portrait, not a ranking. Browse all 59 district profiles.
